The Governing Board is composed of seven members elected from each of seven trustee areas that encompass the Los Banos Unified School District. Trustees must reside in the area for which they are elected and serve an alternating four-year term. The Board provides leadership and citizen oversight for the District’s operations.
The Board works closely with the Superintendent to:
Establish a long-term vision for the District.
Establish and maintain a basic organizational structure for the District, including selection
of the Superintendent and adoption of policies, curriculum, the budget and collective
bargaining agreements.
Ensure accountability to the local community, including personnel, programmatic and fiscal
accountability and serve as a judicial and appeals body as needed.
Provide community leadership and advocacy at the local, state and national levels on behalf
of children, District programs and public education.
Trustees encourage community members to become involved in our schools by participating
in various school and District committees, attending Board meetings, Back-to-School Nights
and other student events. The Board is fully committed to the district motto:
"Our Children, Our Future".
