In her role as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Dr. Calzadillas assists her team with the recruitment, selection and onboarding of new employees to Los Banos Unified School District.  She also serves as the Lead Negotiator for the District, Complaint Coordinator and Investigator.   Working with her Human Resources team, they have defined their mission for the Human Resources Department, “To support staff in achieving their best so they can be their best.”  She strives to ensure that this occurs each day. 

Dr. C. Sean Richey serves as the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Richey oversees and directs the educational division of the district, which includes special education, English learner development, curriculum development, instruction, assessment, counseling, multi-tiered systems of support, homeless and foster youth programs, student services, state and federal funding, and before/after school programs. He provides leadership, direction and support to school staff to coordinate and align effective researched-based programs that result in high academic achievement for all student groups. Dr. Richey ensures compliance with state and federal requirements throughout the district educational program. He works with schools to ensure that district resources are aligned with school needs and that effective teaching and learning occur in every classroom for every student. Dr. Richey works to create conditions that ensure systemic improvement of practice in every classroom and every school, every day.

Dr. Sutton is the Director of Secondary Education, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping and directing educational programs across junior high schools, high schools, the continuation high school, and the independent studies program within the district. He oversees the district’s Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program, dedicated to supporting first-generation college-bound students, while also supervising all district counselors to ensure they receive the essential support and training needed to assist every student effectively. Additionally, Dr. Sutton is responsible for the development and implementation of curriculum and training initiatives at the secondary level. Dr. Sutton oversees the secondary sites in the school district. Dr. Sutton takes a proactive approach to addressing district issues at the secondary level as soon as they arise, ensuring that parents and community members receive satisfactory resolutions to their concerns. He considers it a privilege to serve the community and is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment for all students.

Felipe Meraz, as Director of Student Services is pivotal in coordinating various processes that ensure student needs are met, and educational equity is maintained. This includes overseeing Student Study Teams (SSTs) to address specific learning challenges, as well as managing 504 plans to provide accommodations for students with disabilities. They also facilitate the School Attendance Review Board (SARB) process to address chronic absenteeism and support students in maintaining their attendance. Additionally, the Director ensures adherence to Uniform Complaint Procedures, addressing any grievances related to discrimination or inequitable treatment within the school environment. By integrating these processes, the Director helps create a supportive and compliant educational atmosphere for all students.

Melanie Marcella serves as the Director of Fiscal Services. Ms. Marcella assist her team in the preparation of Accounts Payable, Payroll, Budgeting, Fixed Assets, ADA, Insurance, and Accounting. Her department is in charge of maintaining and improving systems of internal controls to protect employees and ensure the district’s financial information integrity. Her and her team are in charge of making sure the district remain financially solvent and stays in compliance with laws, regulations, and accounting standards

Garth Gomes serves as the Information Systems (ITS) Manager. ITS provides technical services and support to the Los Banos Unified School District. We are committed to serving and supporting the needs of our growing community of students, teachers, administration, and staff with technology that support both the learning environment, and the work performed by our employees.
